Top Delta politicians Ned Nwoko and Peter Nwaoboshi are engaged in a make or mar battle.
At stake is the Senatorial seat of Delta North.
Nwaoboshi is the incumbent while Nwoko is the challenger.
The sitting Senator soaked with corruption allegations which has earned him listing as a looter of the nation’s wealth.
Checks revealed that this development has not helped his political standing in his constituency and state at large.
But he has something going for him, he is a strong member of the James Ibori political family – and equally belongs to the right caucus in the Senate.
The Senator is one of Ibori’s point men.
Ned Nwoko is not a yeoman politician.
He is a former member of the National Assembly and has invested heavily in the emergence of the current leadership of his party, People’s Democratic Party.
Nwoko and Nwaoboshi belong to the same political party.
But unlike the man he wants to wrest position from, Nwoko is not a political associate of Ibori.
Sources claim at present the “opponents” are waging a fierce underground war to win the party ticket.
Nwoko is said to have quietly entrenched self in virtually every fabric of the PDP at the state level while Nwaoboshi lived big in the last three years.
He is said to be trying to counter the Nwoko effect with heavy spending – and the latter is reacting with counter spending of his own.
“It is a battle of money and influence that they are waging” a source disclosed.
And it is a fierce battle, a make or mar for them sources insist.
